With a 2-0 win over their great rivals, the Three Lions marched into the quarter-finals of Euro 2020, proving their manager’s approach correct.

Gareth Southgate has been chastised for his Euro 2020 decisions, not least for sticking with Raheem Sterling when England has so many other attacking options.

So, when the Manchester City forward repaid the Three Lions boss’s faith in him by scoring his third goal of Euro 2020 in front of a loud crowd at Wembley on Tuesday night, the manager must have felt entirely vindicated.
