Former President Donald Trump slammed the Biden administration’s immigration policies during his first rally since leaving the White House on Saturday, hoping to re-energize Republicans to reclaim congressional majorities next year.
Trump, who appeared to enjoy being back in front of tens of thousands of fans, repeated his bogus assertion that his election loss in November 2020 was tainted by fraud.
Trump resigned shortly after a speech in which he urged a crowd to “fight” when then-President-elect Joe Biden’s victory was about to be certified by lawmakers in the aftermath of the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol by his supporters, and shortly after a speech in which he urged a crowd to “fight” when then-President-elect Joe Biden’s victory was about to be certified by lawmakers.
Trump has maintained strong control over the Republican Party, in part by leaving open the question of whether he will compete for government again in 2024, after surviving a second impeachment on a charge related to the violence.
On Saturday, he dangled that potential in front of the fans.

Trump defeated former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. In 2020, he was defeated.
The resolution of numerous legal issues may have an impact on whether he runs again. According to the New York Times, the Manhattan district attorney’s office has informed Trump’s lawyers that criminal charges may be filed against his family business.
At the rally, the former president focused on sections of his regular grievance list, with a special emphasis on the increased number of immigrants crossing the US southern border, an issue Republicans have focused on to rally their followers.

While keeping his political plans under wraps, the former president came out strongly in favor of regaining control of the US House of Representatives and Senate for his party.
“We will take back the House, the Senate, and America, and we will do it quickly,” he declared.
In the 2022 midterm elections, Democrats’ razor-thin majorities in both chambers of Congress will be on the line, and history favors Republicans’ chances of gaining seats.
While Trump has given addresses at Republican events since his defeat, the rally in Ohio, which he won in 2020, signified a return to the freewheeling mass rallies that have been crucial to preserving the support of his ardent supporters.
He campaigned for Max Miller, a former White House assistant who is running for Congress in a primary against Representative Anthony Gonzalez, one of the ten House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump on charges of inciting the Capitol riot. Trump has stated that he will campaign against all ten.
According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, 53% of Republicans believe Trump won the 2020 election and blame his loss on illegal voting, while a quarter of the general public believes Trump won.
