Bangladesh will purchase 6 crore Sinopharm doses from China

The government of Bangladesh will purchase six crore extra doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine from China.

At a meeting today, the Cabinet Committee on Purchase, chaired by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, approved the plan.

The government has already purchased 1.5 crore Sinopharm vaccination doses from China. Bangladesh has already received 70 lakh doses of the vaccine. Bangladesh was also given 11 lakh Sinopharm vaccination shots as a gift.

According to Health Minister Zahid Maleque, 54 lakh vaccination shots will arrive in the country by August 15. COVAX will provide 30 lakh of the doses.

A consignment of 17 lakh Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine doses, under the COVAX facility, reached Dhaka last evening from China.
