Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today urged everyone to work together to combat the coronavirus epidemic, reiterating her government’s commitment to do so.
“Insha’Allah, we will be able to deal with the current issue (of the coronavirus), and we need everyone’s help,” she added.
She mentioned this when she presented 32 people and organizations with the coveted Bangabandhu Jatiya Krishi Puroshkar-1424, the highest state award in the agriculture industry.
The award ceremony took place at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium. The Prime Minister took part electronically from Gono Bhaban, her official home.
The prime minister stated on the show that the country is currently experiencing the second wave of coronavirus.
In this regard, she stated that the number of infections has risen dramatically, as has the number of deaths caused by the deadly virus.
She asked that everyone keep themselves and their family safe.
“This is my specific plea to you,” the prime leader said, urging people to follow health recommendations.
Five gold medalists, nine silver medalists, and 18 bronze medalists were among the awardees for their remarkable contributions to various sectors of agriculture.
Dr M Abdur Razzaque, Agriculture Minister and Chairman of the Bangabandhu Krishi Puroshkar Trust, accepted the prizes on behalf of the Prime Minister.
At the occasion, Maya Rani Baul spoke on behalf of the winners.
At the event, a film about the progress of the agriculture industry was shown.
The prime minister also presented the covers of many agricultural periodicals in the country.
