Two people were killed and more than 50 others were injured and burnt in a blast at Moghbazar in the capital. The injured have been admitted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical and Sheikh Hasina Burn Institutes for treatment. 32 people have been taken to the emergency department of DMC.
The incident took place in the wireless area of Maghbazar on Sunday (June 26) at 7.30 pm. However, no information was available on how the blast occurred.
Perth Sankar Pal, a resident surgeon at the Sheikh Hasina Burn Institutes for treatment and confirmed that two people had died in the blast.
The injured and burnt have been taken to Dhaka Community Clinic, Adb-Din Hospital, and Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital.
SM Ayub Hossain, a resident surgeon at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said 10 people had been admitted to the burn unit in the Magbazar incident. Many more patients are coming to the emergency department.
The critical patients are- Russell (24), Zakir Hossain (40), Swapan (22), Nayan (32), Motaleb (40), Abul Kalam (35), Md. Paimal Hossain (40), Mostafiz (45), Nabi (28), Azad (35). Besides, 36 people have been admitted in the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital.
Earlier, Ershad Hossain, duty officer of the control room of the fire service and civil defense headquarters, said, “We have received news of an AC explosion.” Some people called again and said that the cylinder of the car exploded. 9 units of fire service have been sent to the spot.
